- Version 1.2
- Published 10 October 2026
These terms are between you and Sewell Technologies, Victoria, Australia ("we", "us"). They apply when you download, install or buy PlotScope.
1. Who sells it
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Paddle sells you the licence; we grant it. These terms govern your use of PlotScope, and Paddle's buyer terms govern the payment.
2. Business use only
PlotScope is a software library for developers, sold to businesses. By buying a licence you confirm you are buying it for a business, not as a consumer for personal or household use.
3. What you get
When you pay, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use PlotScope under the tier, number of developers and term shown on your order and on our pricing page (plotscope.org/pricing) when you bought.
| Tier | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Standard | One public deployment domain, including its subdomains, and any number of your own internal domains and applications, for software you do not sell |
| SaaS | One product or logged-in service you sell, on any number of its domains |
| Redistribution, web | One named product you sell or ship to your customers, in the browser, not in desktop or mobile applications, royalty-free |
| Redistribution, all platforms | One named product on every platform it ships on, and its hosted web version, royalty-free |
An internal domain is a host only your own organisation can reach, such as an intranet server or a private address. Under Standard, tell us the internal host names you use, when you buy or later by opening a request from your account, and we add them to your key at no charge.
A licence covers the number of developers on your order, or any number under a site licence. A developer is a person who writes, modifies or maintains code that calls the PlotScope API, including contractors; someone who only builds, tests, deploys or uses your product is not one. We count the most developers working with PlotScope at the same time, and a seat can move from one person to another. The licence never expires. Your term of one, two or three years is how long you receive updates and support. After it ends you keep using every version you received, and you can renew to get later versions.
A site licence covers any number of developers in your organisation and its subsidiaries.
Once a year, if we ask in writing, you will tell us in writing how many developers use PlotScope. If you have more than your licence covers, you agree to buy the difference at the price then current.
4. The free Community licence
Without a paid licence you may use PlotScope, with every feature and a watermark, for non-commercial purposes, and inside a business for evaluation and development. Using it in production needs a paid licence. The Community licence comes with no support and no commitment to updates.
5. What you may not do
- Remove or hide the watermark, or bypass or tamper with the licence key check.
- Sell, sublicense or redistribute PlotScope except as your tier allows.
- Use PlotScope to build a charting, plotting or visualisation library or developer toolkit that competes with it, or expose PlotScope's API to your own customers as a development interface.
- Use it as a general 3D rendering engine rather than for visualising data in your product.
- Reverse engineer it, except to the extent the law allows you to regardless of these terms.
6. Licence keys, updates and support
Your key is checked on your own machine and never contacts us. Your deployed application keeps working whatever happens to us, including if we stop trading.
In a web browser your key works on the websites your licence covers. A key used outside what your licence covers shows the free-tier watermark.
If a key is published, shared beyond your licence or used against these terms, we may withdraw it. If you are entitled to keep using PlotScope, we will give you a new key.
During your term you get updates and support. To contact us, open a request from your account at plotscope.org/account.
7. Refunds
Payments are not refundable, except under the warranty in clause 8 or where the law requires a refund. To ask for one, open a request from your account; refunds are issued through Paddle. A refund ends the licence: you must stop using PlotScope under it, and we may withdraw its key.
Nothing in these terms limits any refund or remedy you are entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot be excluded.
8. Our responsibility to you
Rights the law gives you. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any liability of ours, that the law applying to you says cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. That includes the guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which apply whatever law these terms are governed by.
Warranty. During your term, PlotScope will perform in all material respects in accordance with its documentation. If it does not, and you notify us during your term, we will, at our option, correct the defect, provide a replacement, or refund the fees paid for the affected licence. That is your sole remedy under this warranty, without limiting the rights described in "Rights the law gives you" above.
Everything else. Apart from that warranty and those rights, PlotScope is supplied as it is. We do not promise it will meet every requirement you have, run without interruption, or be free of defects, and you are responsible for testing it in your product before you ship. TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Limit. Where the law allows us to limit our liability for failing to meet a guarantee, our liability is limited, at our choice, to supplying PlotScope again or refunding what you paid for it.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you under or in connection with these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue or data.
What the limit does not cover. The limits above do not apply to death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or to our fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
9. Ownership
We own PlotScope and all rights in it, including the libraries of ours it is built on: within PlotScope they are licensed to you under these terms, whatever licence they carry elsewhere. Components from third parties are listed, with their own licences, in the notices that come with PlotScope. You own your application and your data. We collect nothing from your deployments; see our privacy policy at plotscope.org/privacy.
10. Ending the licence
You can stop using PlotScope at any time. We can end your licence only if you materially breach these terms and do not fix the breach within 30 days of our written notice, or at once if the breach cannot be fixed, such as publishing or sharing your key or removing the watermark. If it ends, you must stop using PlotScope and delete your copies.
11. Changes
We may update these terms for future purchases. The version you agreed to keeps applying to what you have already bought, unless you agree otherwise.
12. Other terms
If you sell your business, or the product a licence covers, the licence transfers to the buyer: tell us who they are. Otherwise you may not transfer it without our written consent, which we will not unreasonably refuse.
You confirm you are not located in, or acting for anyone in, a country or on a list subject to Australian, United Nations, United States or European Union sanctions.
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If any part of these terms is unenforceable where you are, the rest still applies.
